Dr Swindle graduated from the University of Queensland medical school in 1990. He completed advanced urological training in Queensland in 2000. During his urological training he also completed a Masters of Surgery at the University of Sydney performing research on prostate cancer. Subsequent to completing advanced urological training he traveled to the USA where he undertook a 2 year fellowship in Urological Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. During this period he published several articles on prostate cancer and gained a large amount of clinical experience in prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer and testicular cancer. He has developed a special interest in prostate cancer and in particular nerve sparing radical prostatectomy, nerve grafts, laparoscopic prostatectomy and Brachytherapy for prostate cancer.
He has returned to Australia and established Urological practice in Brisbane with a particular interest in Prostate Cancer and other urological malignancies. He has an appointment at the Mater Medical Research Institute and is involved in the Mater prostate Cancer Research Center in the development of Dendritic Cell therapy for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer. He has an appointment at the Mater Adults Hospital and also the Mater Private Hospital, Wesley Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital.
